Virtual ANS is a software simulator that faithfully recreates the unique Russian synthesizer ANS - a groundbreaking photoelectronic musical instrument developed by Evgeny Murzin from 1938 to 1958. The ANS allowed musicians to compose music in the form of a spectrogram (sonogram), eliminating the need for live performers or traditional instruments. Esteemed composers such as Stanislav Kreichi, Alfred Schnittke, Edward Artemiev, and others in the Soviet Union utilized the ANS for their experimental compositions. Notably, the haunting sounds of the ANS can be heard in Andrei Tarkovsky's films Solaris, The Mirror, and Stalker.

The Virtual ANS simulator extends upon the capabilities of the original instrument, transforming it into a comprehensive graphics editor. With this software, users can convert sound into visually captivating images, load and play these images, craft microtonal and spectral music, and generate unique atmospheric sounds. This application is an excellent choice for individuals who revel in experimental musical experiences and yearn for something fresh and innovative.
